Inspired elements

You know how you always turn to a certain color or a certain shape when it comes to, for example, buying clothes? It is not only conditioning and habit, I say, but a simple matter of your personal "design DNA". I think every person has their own special type of design DNA, which draws them to certain designs, colors, materials, etc.

My trip to the Netherlands is coming up (I'll be going by myself, for 10 days only, and I am SO looking forward to it!), and I am trying to finish up some projects before I head off. One of my projects is re-decorating one of my favorite clients' master bedroom and one of my challenges was finding nice and affordable art for their sanctuary.

Hi ladies, remember when I wrote this piece about the fantastic Villa La Banane, as I was dreaming about being on a holiday to a beautiful and far-away destination? Well, let's just say I am in that same kind of mood today, thinking about (and missing) the Old World. As you know I am originally from the Netherlands, and Italy is pretty close by (just a couple of hours by plane).

Hello ladies! As everybody knows, the kitchen and dining areas of a residence are many times the heart of the home. These are the places where everybody usually gets together to enjoy each other's company, make and have a good meal, and take pleasure in a nice glass of wine. It is where you catch up and talk about life with friends and family.

Hello ladies, today I want to show you some lovely examples of how to decorate with pastel colors. Pastels have gained popularity (again) in the last couple of years after having a bit of a stigma of being too "80's-ish". Yet, in reality, when you take a good look, pastels colors are beautiful and serene and have a great capability to combine with other colors.

Hello ladies, just a quick one this week, as it is Monday as I write this and stress is kicking in, my oldest boy is turning 6 this Wednesday (yes, today!) and I still have to arrange for a gift, the party and the works!

Hello ladies, last week was not such a good week. My (gorgeous) new bag with EVERYTHING in it got stolen, so I've been spending a lot of time trying to replace bank cards, credit cards, etc., and figuring out how I am going to pay for a new phone. Then again, I was lucky that it was only my bag, and that my family and I are fine. It is only material things, after all.

One of my professional goals is to design a restaurant/hotel in the years to come. Nothing like a great place to eat and stay, that not only has a menu with lovely things that you wouldn't cook at home, but which also has an interior that takes you beyond your day-to-day dining experience.

Hello ladies, did you all enjoy your Semana Santa? We had a lovely couple of days off, which we spent in Rio Dulce with lot's of pool and boating time.

Hello ladies, as I am working hard to finish some projects before the Semana Santa craziness starts, I must admit that I am already daydreaming about our trip to Rio Dulce that will undertake next week (big time). And even though I am running around while trying not to overlook any details, my mind is already with one foot out of the door. So for this post, I couldn't help but tell you about this wonderful hotel, Villa La Banane, on the island of St. Barth in the Caribbean.
